Design    
The design of the RS2-F capitalizes on the success of the RS 2 and is 100% mainstream Racing Dynamics style.  
It features the classic, all curved, 5 spoke Racing Dynamics design, and it sports a lightening groove in the center of the spoke that encloses the lug hole and extend all the way to the outer edge of the spoke.

The sporty appearance of the RS2-F is enhanced by the mounting holes for the BMW alignment machine, which allow you to have the vehicle serviced at any BMW Center using the factory tools.

The RS2-F was developed using the newest surface modeling technologies which allow us to integrate directly with our Finite Element Analysis software.

The five spokes are optimized to carry the weight of the latest BMW models, including the X5 and the 7 Series, which is a great extension of the old RS 2 applications which were limited to the weight of the 3 and 5 series cars.  The RS2-F has fully machined surfaces, rear pad lightening pockets, and it is amongst the lightest wheel on the market.

Another enhancement of the RS2-F is that all 3 available diameters, 19", 20", and 22" now feature reverse contour rims only.  Although the reverse rim contour can present some technical challenges when used in heavy rainy conditions, this move was done 100% in response to our customers' demands.
 
Modern rendering software allows us to optimize the design without having to build a full scale model.  
This all-digital approach, from design to final product, ensures incredible accuracy and wheels that have the tightest tolerances.

The 3 components of the RS2-F are held together by 10 studs that are hidden behind the spokes, and 30 exposed bolts.  The 40 bolt construction is the most stable and gives the best results in terms of durability and resistance to fatigue.

The RS2-F features a sealing bead of high-density inert silicone that as vastly superior to what you find on 99% of all modular wheels in the marketplace.

   
Technology       
The RS2-F starts as a rotary forging of 6061-T6 Aerospace-grade aluminium.  Rotary forging technology aligns the grain of the material radially, which is optimal for wheels.  All forged blanks are heat-treated to reach the maximum tensile strength.
 
The RS2-F is optimized for weight savings.  Each center is machined to remove all excess material.  Here is a detail of the relief pockets on the mounting pad.

Forgings are first turned on a CNC lathe, which ensures 100% accuracy in the planar alignment of the 3 critical surfaces for a 3-piece wheel.  Since the RS2-F is only available for BMW, we can machine all critical dimensions at the same time, so all mounting surfaces are perfectly parallel or perpendicular to each other, and all bores are concentric and accurate.

The turned blanks are then milled on a 3-axis CNC mill, running the latest and most accurate CAM software.

The detail of the machined nipple that protects the assembly bolt-head from road hazards, is a testament to Racing Dynamics' pursuit for perfection.  On a machined part, the only way to "grow' a detail like this is to machine around it, which adds hours to the manufacturing process.  

Note the fine machining (2/100mm per incremental step) and the smoothness of the part as it comes out of the mill.  A quick pass under the buffing wheel. and the surface will be smooth as glass. 

This process guarantees a perfectly symmetrical, totally balanced flange.  There are no notches for valves, no extra aluminium just for the sake of styling, no glued stainless steel rings, no pretend-bolts,  or any other feature that could interfere with our desire to deliver the highest technological content to our customers.

Each wheel takes approximately 8 hours of machine time, which makes the RS2-F a very exclusive product.  On the other hand, if you may have to wait a while to have your set built to order, you can rest assured that you will be driving on 4 technological marvels of perfection, and you will be able to tell, by how nimble and responsive your BMW becomes, that you have made the right choice.   

 

   
Applications    
The RS2-F is built specifically for each BMW model, so there are no centering rings and no spacers to deal with.  Each wheel was optimized to fit the specified tyre, as we have worked closely with our technical partner Pirelli, to deliver wheels that will allow the tyre to work at its best.  As an example, we supply 8" and 9" on all E46 cars because these are the sizes that make the 235/35 and 265/30 tyres work at their best. although we could have built 8,5 or 9,5 for the rear.
